Presentation
Headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, GPC Química is a Brazilian company with more than 60 years of history. Manufacturer of thermoset resins and formaldehyde, it is one of the main players of the national industry, with an important presence and significant performance in Mercosur countries.
Strategically wise, the company has two plants located in the cities of Araucária/PR and Uberaba/MG, on a total of over 300,000 m² premises, where thermoset resins and ancillary products are manufactured for the reconstituted wood panel industry, MDF, MDP, OSB and Plywood materials, as well as special resins and additives for specific applications.
History
Synteko Establishment
In Gravataí/RS, beginning of commercialization of Synteko in Brazil
1954
Debuts its 1st formaldehyde plant in Gravataí/RS
Beginning of manufacture of formaldehyde, raw material for the production of urea-formaldehyde resin, base of the products of the brand Synteko.
1965
Inauguration of Prosint in RJ
Peixoto de Castro Group joins the petrochemical business with the production of methanol, a raw material for the manufacture of formaldehyde
1971
GPC takes corporate control of Synteko
The Group structures its up righting process by acquiring Synteko, a company specialized in the production of resins and formaldehyde
1973Inauguration of Araucária/PR plant
Complying with the timber market of Paraná, the Group inaugurates the Araucária/PR unit.
1999
Inauguration of Uberaba/MG plant
Focusing on meeting the timber demand, the Company expands its operations in the Southeast region with the inauguration of its plant in Minas Gerais.
2001
Creation of GPC Química
It takes place from the process of incorporation of Prosint (methanol manufacturer) by Synteko (thermoset resins and varnishes manufacturer).
2008
Shutdown of Methanol Plant – Focus on Resins
Prioritizing the focus on resins production, the methanol plant was deactivated in Rio de Janeiro / RJ.
2013
Expansion of the Araucária / PR plant
Expansion of its production capacity, with the conclusion of the installation of the third formaldehyde plant and a new reactor.
